Stock Market Game Winners
Seniors Kelly Acosta, Edgar Alvarez, Devon Williams, and Luke Shepherd placed second in Dekalb and fifteenth in Georgia for The Stock Market Game, a stock investment game using virtual amounts of money. The team turned an $18,000 increase on their original $100,000 cash amount; Acosta said that “checking the news a lot… whether stocks are rising or falling” helped their team's score. “The main thing that we did [to perform well] was buy Walmart,” said Shepherd. Both their Walmart and Shake Shack stock increased over the duration of the first semester game, bringing their equity up to winning status.
